  1. Well, here we are up to disk number 14, just before Christmas.    With this
  2. volume, we are back to the more mundane world of useful utilities.  Here we
  3. go:
  4.  
  5.     A68k -    An optimising 68000 assembler.    Does a very good job, and
  6.         includes complete source (for Manx C).
  7.  
  8.     Blink - Just in case, here's version 6.9 of Blink, which was the
  9.         last PD release of this now famous linker.
  10.  
  11.     Compu-Calc! - A neat calculator, not especially feature-loaded,
  12.               but includes complete source (in assembler).
  13.  
  14.     DirWin - A useful utility, especially if you look at directories a
  15.          lot.  Will automatically bring up the directory for a disk
  16.          inserted in drive DF0:
  17.  
  18.     DME -    An Extra good programmer's editor, allowing remapping the
  19.         keys (and even the Mouse buttons!) to any other key or even
  20.         a command sequence.  128 possible mappings PER KEY make
  21.         this an EXTREMELY powerful editor.  Also allows multiple
  22.         files in multiple windows, etc.

  24.     FFont.v2 - Version 2 of Darren Greenwald's Fast Font routines,
  25.            allowing up to 600% speedup over conventional text
  26.            routines.
  27.  
  28.     FFormat - A fast disk formatter, used to format the original of
  29.           this disk.  Includes the capability to install your disk
  30.           immediately after format, thereby replacing both Format
  31.           and Install in your C: directory.
  32.  
  33.     Resident - The resident command, plus several support files.  Read
  34.            the docs to find out uses for this.
  35.  
  36.     Riley - Several files from Mark Riley (author of MusiCraft, which
  37.         later became Sonix).  Included are a program packer with a
  38.         twist (packed files unpack themselves!), an IFF SMUS song
  39.         player which can be used from CLI or Workbench, and a
  40.         program to turn off the filter in the Amiga sound section
  41.         (on the A500 & A2000 only). Also includes some Christmas
  42.         songs to play with the Player.
  43.  
  44.     SClock - I know; "Not another clock program!"  This one will do
  45.          something a little different...it will make sure it stays
  46.          on the top screen, even custom screens put up by such
  47.          programs as Shanghai and various terminal programs.
  48.  
  49.     SmallLib - A small library which can be used to replace amiga.lib
  50.            in most cases.  Included to help with A68k.
  51.  
  52.     SpeedUp - A file from Germany which will change the drive step
  53.           delay in the trackdisk.device for your drives.  Does show
  54.           noticeable improvement in disk access speeds.
  55.  
  56.     Wordwright - A word processor that rivals many being sold for $100
  57.              or more!  Includes an outliner, mail merge, and multi
  58.              file capability, just like the commercial jobbies.
  59.  
  60. Whew!  Hope that holds you for a while.  Try everything, you never know
  61. what might strike your fancy.
